More than three decades ago, Barclays Global Investors (now a part of BlackRock) pioneered the investment approach known as indexing. This new style of investing was based on the structured balance of risk, return, and cost, a principle that today permeates everything we do at BlackRock.
Early adopters of indexing were persuaded by the performance of equity index funds. It wasn’t long, though, before fixed income investors saw the advantage indexing could provide in these markets. Today, fixed income strategies are used to invest a significant share of most institutional portfolios.
BlackRock’s index funds cover the world's investable fixed income markets. Our modular structure offers efficient, low-cost exposure to specific market segments, generating economies of scale that lower our clients’ total costs.
