BlackRock has always been invested in helping others thrive -- whether by giving to individuals in need, helping to sustain non-profits and charities or simply supporting the dedication and passion of our clients and employees. Learn more about our formal initiatives created to support the communities in which we live and work.
Charitable Donation Program
The global Charitable Donation Program, founded in 2007, reflects BlackRock’s conviction to assist organizations that are important to our employees and further emphasize our belief in corporate citizenship.
Local Giving and Volunteering Committees comprised of employees from every business group and level help determine how the corporate donations are directed.
Volunteering
The local Giving & Volunteering Committees are also responsible for providing employees with volunteer opportunities to give back to their community. The committees initiate office-wide events as well as sponsor events led by individual employees. The volunteer events are held locally and occur during work hours (with manager approval), after hours and on weekends. Projects focus on various causes ranging from environmental and educational projects to homelessness and breast cancer.
Additionally, BlackRock sponsors volunteer events annually for our Intern and Analyst classes. They spend a day during their respective orientation programs volunteering. Past projects have included park beautification and teaching financial literacy to students.
Matching Gifts Program
Employees can also direct the giving of the firm by participating in the Matching Gifts program. If an employee makes a donation to an approved organization, BlackRock will match their donation at 100%, up to $5,000 annually.
