Uncomfortable About Future Comforts

25%: Workers who are confident they will be able to live comfortably in retirement

How people prepare for retirement today is quite different from how it was done in generations past. Results from this year's BlackRock Retirement Survey confirm that difference with a gap in sentiment. Only 25% of current defined contribution plan participants responded that they are very confident they will have enough money to live comfortably in retirement. On the other hand, 54% of people who are already retired are confident they will be able to live a comfortable lifestyle.

Retirement income is not the same as it used to be, and today's workers may not feel as financially secure for their futures. They will need to be open-minded when it comes to using longevity, as well as cast a wider net to find sources to fund retirement.
