Want a Successful Retirement? Avoid These 3 Key Mistakes
Many of us want to create a successful retirement plan. Often, however, we fall into bad habits that lead us completely off course and threaten to destroy our plan altogether. Here are three key mistakes we believe you should avoid when planning for retirement:
- Forgo a plan. Without a plan, it's too easy to forget about the end goal and just focus on what's happening today. Look ahead, and create a plan that allows you to save up for the retirement you want by encouraging you to start taking the steps that can help lead to a successful retirement later.
- Rack up debt. Make a plan to pay off debt before you retire, including mortgage debt if possible. By paying yourself first, you can help reduce future retirement obligations.
- Neglect your health. We believe poor health is expensive and it reduces your ability to enjoy yourself in retirement. If you stay active and maintain your health, you can help improve the odds that you will need fewer medical services later on.
