Investment Overview

This Mid Cap Value strategy invests a diversified portfolio of 60 to 80 U.S. stocksof mid-cap companies with attractive valuations, low market expectations, andpotential for fundamental improvement. Long-term capital appreciation is soughtthrough internally driven stock selection, emphasizing traditional measures ofvalue. Our goal is to generate consistent excess return by adding value throughbottom-up fundamental research.


Investment Process

Initial Universe Initial investment universe consists of publicly traded U.S. companies with market capitalizations primarily between $1 billion and $10 billion.
 
Quantitative Screens & Company Meetings
A series of screens and evaluation of management team quality are applied to identify potentially undervalued candidates for in-depth fundamental research.
 
Fundamental Company Research
Analysts evaluate and attempt to understand each company through analysis of business prospects relative to share price, and thorough assessment of risk/reward tradeoffs.
 
Portfolio Construction Portfolio construction is driven by bottom-up stock selection. The strategy is diversified across 60-80 holdings, with the top positions rarely exceeding 3%.
 
Tailored Portfolio Construction The target portfolio can be modified to accommodate your particularinvestment restrictions or guidelines.
 
Sell Discipline Generally, stocks are sold for the following reasons:
  • Stock reaches target price and is fully valued
  • Erosion in fundamental strength or growth prospects
  • Deterioration in the tradeoff between risk and reward
